Recording Connection Week 4 (Feb 21st - Feb 22nd) Posted on 2017-02-28 by Michelle

On the 21st, John was tracking bass for a record for the artist was Susan Slayer. Her bassist quit before they recorded the whole album so John said he could do the parts on the album because he plays just about any band instrument. The song he was working on the whole time was called "Crossroads." The wasn't an actual artist in the studio because work was being done in the basement that is loud and could interfere with recording. There were at least 13 tracks on Johns screen while tracking and editing his bass part in the song. John listens to the whole recorded part then goes back through the whole song and listens for imperfections on other tracks and fixes them. John plays a 5 string Schecter bass. Then I worked on ProTools and finished all of part 1.

On the 22nd, Joey joined us and we talked about crossfading in songs. Crossfading is 2 edited sounds that come together and make a popping noise on the track. To get rid of the noise you have to fade the 2 tracks together for a seamless transition. He was working on artist Alex Wright's song From Kentucky.
