October 2016 With Twelve Music Group Posted on 2016-10-02 by Kayla Parker

"WOW", Is how im going to start my post this week.

I am truly amazed by the month of September working with Twelve Music Group and RRFC which have me overly excited for the month of October. I really dont know where to begin.. For the first part of September working with Twelve we geared up getting ready for the Student appreciation "Kick Back" where award were presented from mentors and studio owner Dina Marto. This was my official first time being in the present of Dina Marto (Twelves Music Group Owner) and it was an experience within its self. What I took away from meeting Dina for the first time is that handwork  is always awarded but you most defiantly have to work hard… That in fact nothing is handed to you. Shortly after Dina introduced herself and thank everyone for their hard work through out the studio award were presented. First Twelve started off with the actual intern workers of Twelve and presented their awards to them.. Shortly after my mentors and advisors presented the award to the student workers of Twelve. With me being a new student I expected to only be there to meet everyone as part of the gathering. I truly didn’t expect to get a award. Im not a tall woman so Im easily swallowed up by I room full of tall men lol.. Suddenly I hear Kayla Parker is she still here!?!? Me Mentor and Advisor Christopher “CAT” Taylor & Kandice Knight along side Twelves Owner Dina Marto presented me with the Most Likely To Succeed award. I was in total awww I had words but at the time in disbelief they had no chance of following out my mouth.  As award was done being presented the workers of Twelve was able to present some of their music to Dina.. And man Twelve is in the likes of some new up and coming artist, I mean some true talent. Unfortunately I was not able to submit any tracks for this “Kick Back”. Most Defiantly for the next listening pool I will be ready to submit some of my work to Dina Marto.

Walking into the month of October as a student with Twelve my Engineering Techniques have increased in a major way. October 2016 will be our busiest month far as student/interns working with Twelve Music Group. Before going into the month of October I was able to watch the recording process of many different artist.. each having their on style of recording. One artist that stuck out to me the most was Atlanta rapper/singer “Roscoe Dash”. He’s such a talented young man, but the way he stacks his vocals over and over and over to create the unique sound that the world knows was truly amazing to watch with my own eyes. Especially as the music played through the studio speakers in Purple Rain (Studio Room at Twelve). later own that week I was introduced to “Roscoe Dash” himself. Watching an hungry inspiring as such was truly amazing. Even though his laid-back spirit is very calming you can still feel the excitement and energy that he showcase through out his audio tracks (party anthems) just by watching him get inspired by the tracks us students were working on.

Gearing up to start the month of October  with much success with Twelve Music Group us as student/interns have two major projects while working with Twelve. The first project will focus on building yourself as a Brand. Focusing on what exactly is your brand. Such as:

-Style

-Goal

-Budget

-Business Plan

-Purpose

Once this project is completed and reviewed.. us as student/interns will have to present our work to the industry board of Twelve Music Group along side Business exec and owner Dina Marto. Im super excited and nervous all at the same time.. But a good nerves I must say. Knowing that the nerve's are only there because im extremely over joyed at the opportunity.  The next project is focusing on your career path while working with Twelve Music Group. The choice for this project are designed into four categories such as:

 -Audio Engineer

-Producer

-Business Management

-Artist

The guidelines for this project states that you can only pick one career path to focus on. This project will focus on ways to develop your career. Focusing on details of how Twelve as a Music Studio and Artist Development company can help you as you continue working in your field.

To tell you the truth im excited about it all for the month of October and the year to come. We will be also taking more studio tours around Atlanta, Ga as well working with some of the top engineers and producers around the Atlanta, Ga community. Starting off working with one of Twelves audio engineer Preston. He’s pretty dope, with him just wrapping up sessions with the legendary  musician Elton John. My insight and sessions alongside my mentor “CAT” start this Friday.

I will keep you all posted on the wonderful things taking place with us as a family at Twelve Music Group!

PS: I encourage you to tune in and  check out Twelve Music Group as the family of Twelve takes over the A3C Festival & Conference October 5th- 9th 2016 here in Atlanta, Ga.
