Friday August 9th:

I went into Bowtown for a lesson with Tara. She told me some general rules when working with microphones. I showed her the assignment about microphone positioning, I had miked my drum kit, then after that I tried my Djembe drum. I tools some pictures to show her. She gave me some tips for positioning the microphones. We then worked on some tracks on the computer. She showed me how to strip silence a track, and I worked on that for a while. (2 hours)

Tuesday August 13th:

I went into Bowtown to work with Kuba. I finished strip silencing the track Tara and I were working on in our last lesson. I went on to work on the assignment in the textbook. (2 and 1/2 hours)

Monday August 19th:

I went to Bowtown for a lesson with Tara. She gave me a little quiz on different microphone types. She showed me their patch bay, and told me that it wasn't working properly, so we may need to do some work on it later. We then worked on a song that some kids recorded at Bowtown's band camp program. I put a compressor on the piano, and the guitar; then equalized them too. I decided the piano was more important in the track, so Tara showed me how to create a "pocket" in the EQing process to let the piano stand out more. (2 hours)

Thursday August 22nd:

I am planning on putting together an at-home monitoring station, so today I went out and bought a pair of KRK Rokit 5 studio monitors. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a desk and put my work station together.
