Patchbays Posted on 2018-07-09 by Selah Konur

Patchbays have been such a mystery to me prior to taking this BAE course provided by RRFC with my mentor Daniel at Maximus Music Records here in Charlotte NC.  I never quite understood the normalled connections on a patch or even really know what they were called. Needless to say I now know what a patch bay is, how it works, and how useful they are especially when it comes to streamlining and utilizing your gear. In a normalled patchbay the outputs of the mic lines automatically feed the signal into the inputs the mic-pres located below the the outputs, without using a single patch cable. If you where to place a patch cable into either the top output row where the mics are located or the bottom input where the mic pres are located the signal path is broken. In a half - normalled patchbay setup only the bottom row will break the signal path.
