Chapter 14 Blog - Dynamic Signal Processing Posted on 2016-01-26 by Wesley Hagy

Now we are getting into the meat of things, I am finally starting to see more and more of the plugins and outboard equipment that my studio uses everyday. Compression is a truly unique tool that I would like to understand all the way to the core. How can you alter a voltage to do what compression does? How does me turning a knob relate to the total change of an outgoing signal? I know that these are mastering questions, but i figured id let you peak into these ever running noggin of mine.

One thing that has helped me to understand, at least a little bit more, has been the presets on the EQ plugins. Exploring how all of those alter the sound of a vocal or instrument has been the most helpful so far.
