As I assumed, the book only touched on the Art of mastering. And I say "the art" because mastering, and mixing for that matter, is a true art form. It takes years of practice and a highly trained ear to get the quality of some of the professionally mastered music out there today. But that is part of the reason I chose this profession, longevitiy and endless learning. The technology and techniques for this industry are ever growing and changing, meaning there are always endless ways to use your talents to make money and positively effect the world around you.
I believe that the more pure you can make/mix/master a record, then the more feeling and emotion you will impart into the listener. The more emotion they feel, the more likely they are to take action on said emotion. If I can create music that imparts emotion which in turn leads to action, hopefully positive action, then I can leave satisfied that I have made a lasting impact.
