Monday February 5th was my first day of the Recording Connection course over at Miller Street Studios.
This was a fairly slow day being as it was the first of many, it was very introductory, geared towards getting me comfortable in the studio environment. I arrived about 5 minutes before any of the other students, which was 5 minutes before the scheduled time of arrival. I had to sit and wait around for the others to show up before we could start lesson 1.
Once the others had arrived, we went over the first lesson and chatted a bit about the questions (Not much was needed to be said, we understood the concepts fairly easily).
Afterwards was time to sit around and observe the other students who were further ahead of me in the program and were working on Signal Flow and Patch Bays as well as a simple task to complete in Pro Tools 9. I sat and watched as each student attempted to complete each task but it seemed as if most of them were very lost and not knowing what to do.
Later around 6 or 7 PM a man named Tjayy and his buddy came into the studio for a recording session, one of the students (Diamond) was in charge of recording and mixing together the pieces of vocals he was recording. He was rapping an original rap over the Bauerr Harlem Shake beat, it was turning out really nasty when I looked at the time and realized it was my time to part. I spent about 5 hours in the studio that day, and even though it was not the most eventful it was still a good taste of what is going to be happening from this point forward.
