Beginning my Mixing Assignment Posted on 2014-04-25 by Jessica Sherman

This week was really good. Since Joe gave me some of his work, I can use one of those songs for my mixing practice which is cool because it's something I'm familiar with and more my type of music (no offense to the school) so that'll be fun to play around with. A few of the guys who come to the studio pretty often, are having a concert the 18th and invited me so I'm really excited to be able to see that. The chapter this week was fairly simple. I've seen a lot of mixing done in the studio so I understand the text pretty well and I've been getting pretty good at listening and distinguishing between instruments and what to listen for and what not so it's getting easier and easier. I know the next few chapters will start to dig deeper in all the aspects of mixing so that'll be more of a challenge but I'm keeping my focus and I'm trying to learn everything I can in the short amount of time I have left at the studio. So far so good!
