Just starting out Lessons 1 and 2 Posted on 2013-06-25 by Ray Boyd

I have gone into the studio twice now and its beyond exciting. We talked about the set up of the studio and did a walkthrough. Then we got to know eachother a little bit and it helped me relax and open up more. We started talking about the fundamentals of sound and put a big emphasis on terms and different lingo that will always be heard in the indusrty. I learned the definitions of decibels, wavelengths, frequencies, amplitude, etc. We talked about what sound is and how it is created, and what the frequency audio spectrum was. I learned that the humans threshold of sound is between 20 and 20,000 hertz. We discussed how the indusrty has grown and moved to digital from analog and what that ment. Finally, we talked about building a studio and the great lengths that are gone thru to get the best sound and keep the ambient sounds of the room down. We touched on different wall hangings and why we want diffusers of different natures to make the room dead. Im excited for next week and what i will learn next. Til next week keep your head up, feet down, and eyes on the future.
