Lesson 6

I have learned many new things about what the console actually does and will do.

Have also realized MANY, if not all of these thing can be done straight in the DAW software itsself, making the huge console a thing of the past, used mainly for its many preamps/inputs now.

Mixing console, or soundboard is an electronic device for combinging, routing, and changing the level, tonality, or dynamics of audio signals.

Input strip has these sections:

Input jacks/ mic preamps, basic input controls, channel eq, routing section, input faders, subgroup faders, output controls.

Metering: shows you the levels for eaxch channel

Audio mixers can, add ecternal effects, use mono to produce stereo, provide phantom power, create audible tone.

Every analog to digital conversion creates a delay

Analog and digital are on par with each other but lots still prefer analog for ease of use.

Write mode: begins encoding mix moves for the selected channel in real time.

Look at your peak meters to avoid clipping.
