My third week in the studio went as good as planned. My mentor Rick Rooney broke down the subjects of bit depth and sample rate. Before I entered the program I would just listen to music, but I never thought of the technical factor of it or even knew things like Sample Rate were even around. He did a very good job of introuducing all of it to me and all the different settings there were too it. Also I learned and saw them visually of some of the early tape recorders as well as his pro tools rig and various recording softwares that were available on the market. Learning that the .mp3 file was a compressed and not the best way you can listen to the song was almost mind blowing. My whole life I had listen too MP3 and I always thought it had sounded fairly great. Rick explained the fact of why its compressed and why we will work the .wav file throught my course and even after I graduate.
