Lesson 1: Posted on 2013-06-10 by Joel Wolahan

May 6th 2013: Time in 1:00 pm: Time out 2:30 pm:  Lesson 1:  First day in the studio and it was sick!  My mentor Geoff is the coolest down to earth guy, and is a total Jedi when it comes to anything you need to know about audio engineering. To say the least I'm stoked to be his apprentice and soak up all the knowledge. First day in and I was honored enough to meet an amazing musician Willis Allan Ramsey who was just finishing a session at the studio. For the first lesson we went over Far and Away studio sound design.  Geoff's studio has nice high ceilings in the  main room for nice full range of live recording purposes. Of course he has a few iso booths and as you enter into the studio you enter through a sound lock.  He also pointed out his bass traps and mentioned that his studio is lined in beatle kill pine for sound absorption. He also has a sweet echo chamber which is also a bathroom.  Then we went over the rest of lesson 1 and listened to some of the stuff he was working on with Willis Allan Ramsey.
