June 21 2013: Time in 12:30: Time out 2:45: Lesson 5: Today we discussed signal flow and patch bay configurations. It is very important to know your signal flow, where it is going and what is happening along the way. If you know that your an audio engineer. We then went over the 4 patch bay configurations, normalled, half-normalled, parallel, and open, and went over them in detail with a diagram. We then went over balanced and unbalanced plugs. Balanced plugs are used and intended for longer purposes where un balanced plugs like RCA are used for shorter distances. I also learned that most recording studios will be different from one another and its a good idea to get a diagram or schematic for the patch bay configuration for the studio you are working in and study it thoroughly.
