Lesson 5: Signal Flow and Patch Bays Posted on 2013-09-22 by Joelle Altenburg

Oh my...this lesson was almost the death of me. Patch bays and I...not friends!!! At least we weren't! I am warming up to them now! It is a simple simple SIMPLE concept to understand. I get the general idea of how it works. it gets point A to point B!!! what confused the living crap out of me was the configurations of the Patch Bay. First thing Steve and I did was head right into the control room of the studio to look at their patch bay, caught on to how it worked right away.

Then we got into Open, Normalled, Half-Normalled, and Parallel...welp there went any understanding of the concept! Ok so, open, got it! Normalled, got that one too! No problem, I was feeling confident! Half-normalled...haha good one STILL confused on this one! As for parallel I think I have it down for the most part.

Steve and I spent nearly 3 hours alone on the configurations of patch bays. Next week before we go over lesson 6, more questions on patch bays will be asked!
