Lesson four, at it again, all about mic's and delving into sounding up different situations.
Dynamic, Compression, and Ribbons are the three types of mics. Paul went over what kind of mic and usually uses for a given situation. Drum sets and Percussions, versuse micing up a vocalist or a guitar amp, or and orchestra section. We still went over some Pro toolz which we do all the time, and i enjoy hearing the new sessions that had done earlier in the week or the later part of last week. We always go through tracks on how they could sound different and be altered.
Paul also recommended we get a subscription to a catalog with a bunch of audio equiptment gear and just read through them, to learn more about what kind of mics are different than others. Because right now if you named off a shure blah blah or another type of mic, i honestly wouldn't be able to tell you what the difference was unless i knew what kind of microphone they were. I got to ask paul next week to show me how to physically mic up specific things, by micing up i mean like how far away from the amp, is there a mic for the kick drum and the toms or is it just one condeser capturing the percussions, it was a very in depth lesson and a lot to take in.
Next Week im excited paul told me to bring in some of my own stuff and we can record a little bit. I'm nervous as hell but i can't wait to prove that im good at this, and lay down the track. Im gonna be little nausious all day tomorrow but im ready and excited. i can't wait, if someone says anything to me tomorrow i will simply reply "I Didn't Get that memo" hahahaha loved the skits mark liked the Car Salesman and the memo the best. funny shit.
