This lesson for me was very interesting. I understand now everything that has to do with a A&R. Which stands for Artists & Repertoire, this department is responsible for scouting signing, and developing talent for the label. They find talent from a trusted Colleague in the music business, such as attorney's, managers, producers, publishers, or even from live performances on the internet. They play the material at the A&R staff meeting to see if the reaction is favorable, if it is, it will be played for the Promotion Department to gauge radio success and go from there once project is finished. An A&R should always make a recording budget speadsheet for all costs for a certain artist or group. Thanks to this lesson i now have a very well understanding what A&R does and what they can do for you.
