This week I went into the studio every day. We were recording the same band for 3 of those days, and it was definitely amazing to see everything come together. Of course, I know I'll see even more during the mixing and mastering sessions. This group had a very unique vocalist and heaps of different instruments. I definitely have a lot to learn about how to record different instruments best and microphone placement. Like most young bands, the recording session wasn't complete without loads of junk food!
I also sat in on a couple hours of mastering for the band that was in the studio my first week of the program. I learned a lot about using EQ to set a sound mold, and about how much of a difference mastering makes. I also learned that once each track is mastered individually, they are generally all mastered together to further mold the sound and feeling of the album.
This week I was also able to use Studio B to record for voice over jobs and personal projects so long as a client wasn't booked. It's been a real godsend!
