This week we talked a lot about microphones and their uses. Since I'm a voice actress, we talked a lot about how different typed of mics could be used for voice overs. I use a condenser for most of my work, and it's probably ideal for most commercial work. However, dynamic mics can also be really useful for character work where the actor doesn't want to have to worry about their sound levels while delivering lines. Often with my condenser, I'll have a lot of issues with internal peaking when I'm recording for a character who gets very loud or aggressive. With a dynamic mic I wouldn't have to worry about this and I'd be able to focus on my acting without having to worry about holding back for the sake of avoiding distorition.
I also recorded vocals for an English cover of a Japanese anime song opening called "Nanairo Symphony". I still have to record harmonies and mix everything, but it's off to a good start!
