My first week at Studio 713 was exciting. My mentor Ricky Rich introduced me to Shure Microphone Techniques. Knowing how to properly record with specific types of microphones and positioning of the microphones is very important in getting the sound you are looking for. The engineers in the studio are open to dropping knowledge in regards to any questions that I might have. The lead enginner John, showed me how to properly set up a microphones for recording vocals. After recording vocals John walked through how to clean up the vocals in Pro Tools using EQ plugins, and how to put a compression and DeEsser on the vocals. Another engineer, Mike, showed me how to put certain effects on the vocals like Vari-Fi to render change to the vocals, and how to screw a song H town style. I still have a lot to learn in regards to recording techniques, but I know Im in the right place. ♦
