The week started off with Kevin Gates coming to the studio to record. I had the opportunity to set up the Sony C800G microphone for him. It was an unforgettable experience, and his work ethic is inspirational. I took the liberty of doing some practice mixes to his verses using a SSL EQ, and a Tube Tech CL 1B Compresser on the vocals. I bused an H delay to some of the adlibs & put a little reverb on the verses turned all the way down to make the verses sound more fuller. During the lab this week with the lead engineer John, we used Shure Microphone Techniques to record live instruments. Properly linking the xlr cables to the correct channel in the live room and patching the board in the control room was demonstrated to us for the purpose of getting familiar to perform during live sessions in the future. John recommended that each week we take a peice of equipment and study it, so thats a personal goal that I am setting for myself going into the future.
