Chapter 18 Posted on 2017-01-19 by Ashton Nelson

Week 18, Accoustics and Monitoring. I started off the chapter strong we have talked about this multiple times throughout the past couple of months. It was cool to read about the history I do not believe I knew any of that prior to reading this chapter. There were so many people who contributed in the history.  Once I got through the chapter I took the test and felt good about it. I was excited to get into the studio not only do I understand the chapter but my midi cable came in. I had tried to set it up my self but could not get it at all. Once I got to the studio we started right off with trying to hook up the midi cable, I was so excited. I brought with me the cable my laptop, and my keyboard I had everything. Tyler worked on it for a good hour he knows more about protools but I have a pc and specializes with mac. So he finally called over Alex to take over. While Alex was on the computer Tyler and I went over the chapter. We talked about how you have to be aware of your surrounding if you are doing a sound check for a live performance you have to be ready for when the audience gets there. People are one of the largest sound absorbers. So if you set the sound and think that once the audience gets there it is going to sound the same you are going to be shocked. We talked about how they built the studio so that the sound would do what they wanted to do. By this time Alex had been working on my computer for a long time. Finally, we all came to the conclusion that I need to wipe the computer, I was not too happy about this but if it would make protools stop cashing I was in. so I headed out going home to back my computer up. Once I got home I still was not gun ho on whipping my computer so I did some research. I found out the protools need a lot of ram and my computer did not hold enough to support it properly. so it was time to buy ram witch I was ok with I started to look for the ram. That’s when I found out I cannot add ram to my computer which was disappointing. So it is time to buy a new computer. My protools will to very little but enough to get me through now but as soon as I get a chance I will be purchasing a computer that will be able to support protools.
