Diego Mendozalas vegas Recording Connection

Week 2 Posted on 2017-07-09 by Diego Mendoza

My second shadow session was an ongoing project that Luis has been working with regular clients. They are a band that previously recorded live instruments. When I came to observe they were at the point of having the lead singer do vocals for three songs. The style of the band is classic rock with a mix of R&B vocals. The lead singer was familiar with the terms used within a music studio and all other band mates presented themselves with understanding in music theory from experience of playing in a musical setting. For each song there were about 4 recorded takes. After the main vocals were completed the team then started to record harmonics and and add in musically appealing techniques to the songs. One piece in specific had very smooth layers of harmonics included into almost every other verse. There were about 3 or 4 layers of harmonics that complimented the vocals and instruments perfectly. All was reviewed with the band and they were very satisfied. I also was able to engage in conversation with some of the band members and what their overall goals is with the project. Its so inspiring to see that the goal is to get their name and music out there, but giving back to those who have helped during the process of making the dream of recoding music a reality is the true motive. Meeting new people is ok I guess. You never know what new personalities will come your way that will rub off on you. However, I always look forward to meeting an artist. So much can be learned form simple exchanges just because people are passionate about the music they write. I seek to be inspired and to further inspire.
