Week 24 - Finishing Tracks Posted on 2018-08-20 by Kyle Ellis

This week's lesson was on finishing tracks, which seemed like a general overview of common sense when discussing people's workflows and when to call it quits on a track. As an artist, I empathize with others when it feels like there's always more we could do with projects to make it "perfect," but I like that the book reminds us that there is always a time to call it quits and to move on. The challenges I face when working on projects is when to call it finished with mixing as I'm always wondering if there's something I'm missing or could make better. I understand this will come with time as my ears develop and hear more. What's hard most is that there is no perfect formula for a mix as everything is subjective. I've realized that what's most important is that I am happy with the mix and not worry about what others will think. Having said all of that, I have sat on my most recent mix for the last few days of my cover song, Slow Hands and will be releasing it this week. Am looking forward to possibly getting more instagram traffic on my page due to doing a "pop" song, which caters to a large audience. The link will be shared on my page soon!
