Lesson began at 12 noon ended up leaving at 6pm. The lesson was on signal flow and patch bays. Donny and i began the lesson by going over signal flow, he really emphazied how important it was to know signal he said thats all it took to become an engineer to understand where the signal is coming from and whats happening to it throughout the way. We then moved on to patch bays instead of just going over the the questions Donny took the time to show me how the patch bay works, he told me to not stress and overthink things to much he said that in time it would all become easy to me. After we got done with the lesson i decided to hang around the studio. Donny gave the permission for myself and an intern from Iowa named Nick to work in the main studio so we did. Nick is a producer so he asked if i wanted to help make a new beat of course i said yes. He was using logic on his mac to make the beat we were really trying to get the same rhythm as the song Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. I even hopped in the booth the record a few beatboxes i had in mind that i thought would sound good with our beat which was really cool. We didnt get to finish the beat cause the main studio was going to be used by a client so we saved it and we were gonna pick up on it the following week. So far i am really enjoying working with Donny he's realy laid back and really explains everything in such broad detail which makes it clear to undertand. Look forward to coming into the studio everyweek.
