Chapter 19 Blog. Posted on 2015-12-10 by Andy Brisino

This lesson wa all about mastering a song. Mastering is generally not something you read about and know how to do instantly. It takes time you actuallu master the art of mastering. Mastering vould also have different styles, just like engineering. People might master a certian way that differs from the way other people normally do it. There is no entirely right or wrong way to master a mix. That being said, when i went in for a lesson with my mentor, Michael Blum, he pretty much said the same thing. Most of the time when Michael would send off a mix to get mastered, most of the time it came back not sounding how he wanted it to. So Michael decided to start mastering his own mixes and got good at it. Michael said the reasoning for doing that was because he had different prefences to how he wanted the mix to sound. Michael also mentioned how most of the mastering engineering would change too much about the mix and that he didn't like that. Michael also mentioned that technically you don't even hace to master a song, It's really just like finishing touches to a mix. It's not as importnant as it seems.
