OC Recording Connection Ch.15 Posted on 2015-03-02 by Philip Bustamante

Fri. Feb 13th I went into the studio where my mentor and I reviewed Lesson 15 that includes the following:

Everything in detail about time based effects. My mentor showed me what a reverb and delay is all about. How reverb is a series of reflections of sound and how it controls and relates to how a delay is. I learned how time based effects can enhance a beat, especially vocals and what they do by doing such things as making a vocal sound like an echo and how to change the effect which is a pretty amazing process. We also went in detail about things like flanging, phasing, and chorusing as well. The different kinds of reverb like hall, room, spring, and digital. Time based effects add depth and a sense of space to a sound. Reverbs and delays were a big part of this lesson.

I learned how time based effects can change a mix. It can enhance a certain sound especially vocals. I continue to learn different things and distinguish how EQ, compression, and time based effects are important to a mix. I learned how vital these things are to making music and recording. It's amazing how these things make up a song or mix. Learning these tools will be important to further my education in music production and engineering.
