OC Recording Connection Ch.17 Posted on 2015-03-17 by Philip Bustamante

Thurs. Mar. 5th at 3:00 pm, I went into the studio where my mentor and I reviewed Lesson 17 that includes the following:

Everything in detail about automation and what it does to your mix. How automation changes values over a session. How you can create automation in pro tools and by drawing it in with your edit tools as well. We talked about the different parameters that can be automated for real time playback such asa volume, pan, mute on audio, MIDI, and instrument tracks. The different automation modes in pro tools which are off, read, touch, latch, and write. Read mode reads any automation on the track. The touch mode remains in the same position and how automation starts when a specific parameter is modified. Latch mode is similar to touch but it continues writing after the parameter is released. Write mode, automation writing starts when playback starts and stops. Panning and mute is also helped by automation. How sends, MIDI, and instrument tracks can be automated. Automation is very important process when it comes to recording as it can help and control different things in your mix.

My mentor showed the different aspects of automation and what it does. You can automate the volume and sound by contolling the faders. By learning the things automation can do I'm feeling more comfortable in the studio brings another dimension into my own mix I'm doing and as soon as I get it all together which I'm working on, I know I can fulfill my lifetime dream of being a music producer.
