OC Recording Connection Ch.16 Posted on 2015-03-15 by Philip Bustamante

Thurs. Feb. 26th at 3:00 pm, I went into the studio where my mentor and I reviewed Lesson 16 that includes the following:

Everything in detail about MIDI and how it works. We talked about how MIDI differs from audio. We also went into detail about MIDI in pro tools and how it functions. How MIDI tells the digital instrument how, when, and for how long to make a sound. MIDI also allows multiple instruments to be played from a single controller. I learned about quantization and how it works. How you can adjust the notes by 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc. Velocity and what it does and how to adjust it to make that sound more clear. We talked about the three built in softwares in pro tools which are structure, xpand, and boom. I have actually been working on all these software programs for some time now so I was pretty comfortable when it came to this subject.

I continue to learn new things everyday as I enter my final weeks in the studio. Every week it's something different, something more challenging which makes things more exciting for me. My mentor continues to teach me how to approach the different things that go on when it comes to pro tools, the many functions and capabilities it has so it makes it easier for me to make and record music.
