The concept of midi is something I'm pretty familiar with from making beats in the past. Its essential because being able to edit drums and sounds in a mix may be necessary at any given moment. I often find myself not being satisfied with my beats initially so i edit things in the midi window quit frequently. Its a necessary tool that all producers and engineers find usefull because it gives you complete control over a track and a mix. you may need to change the velocity of a kick drum, manipulate a snare roll, or pitch shift a sound so without midi the world of music would be much more complex than it is now days.
