BLOG #1

On Tuesday, March 13th, 2016, I went to The Sound Module, a recording studio in Montreal, for my first class with my mentor Fern Bouie. We read half of chapter 1 in about 3 hours. Fern would frequently stop reading to explain things more in depth and share some of his personal experiences.

The class was short and sweet. My mentor thought it would be a good idea to continue the following week since it was heavy material.

Yesterday, I went back to see him. He showed me the rider he had just recieved. Fern is a sound tech that sets up all the mics for the artists. For about 4 hours, he showed me all the mics from the ridern their purpose and how to set them up since he wanted to take me with him. The band was Brasstracks, a two person band who also produced a Grammy winning song for Chance The Rapper - No problem. I was really excited to meet them. As soon as I got home, I reseached them even more. I had already seen their deconstructed video by Genius and their Rythme Roullette video. I wanted to make sure I knew everything about them when I met them.

Today, I went to the studio to finish up Chapter 1 and I found out tomorrow's show was cancelled. I was really looking forward to it. Fern told me that next week he has a show that he wants to take me with him. I do not know who they are yet but I am excited to find out.

Once I got home, I took the quiz and I got a D. I found that some questions were not very clear so I should have taken my time even more. I was told that if you get under 85%, you cannot pass to the next quiz. However, I am not able to retake the quiz and I am able to go on to the next quiz. I ,definitely, learned my lesson and I will ace my next quiz.

That's it for this blog, Until next time!
