Today we discussed acoustics and monitering and mastering. We mastered the track that we've been working on, which was really cool. I'll need to keep doing it to make sure I get the hang of it, but it didn't seem too difficult. It's crazy to me how in depth and involved mastering can be. Again, kind of overwhelming but also really fascinating. I didn't realize how important that process would be. I can't believe how quick this program has gone and that I'm already to the final exam. Lots of studing to do now! Brett has been awesome and said that even when I'm done with the program, I'm welcome to come in an observe sessions and learn. We spent the last half hour of class today listening to some of our favorite songs and discussing different things we heard in the production and why the engineer might have chosen to do certain things or another. That was really neat. He told me the best way to learn is to try to mimic or recreate something I hear. He also suggested since I am a songwriter, to try to write a song without an instrument and just use ProTools. I am definitely eager to try this challenge! :)
