Today in the studio we started out in the mastering room with Marc. We went over the process of mastering and learned the path the audio takes in the mastering room. We also were shown what all of the hardware was used for and observerd Marc mastering a song. After Mastering, Marc taught us about analogue audio and tape machines. He went over their history, how they worked, and the sound they produced. Finally, we were given the task to set up a vocal tracking session in red room. We went over the signal flow and got the chance to use an external hardware compressor called the Distresser, that we added to the signal path. We recorded some rap vocals and went over different ways we could use the compressor to enhance vocals.
