This chapter covered, in my opinion, probably the most important step in the music making process. Making sure that you EQ out the unneeded frequencies is very important. What people dont realize is that if you have a terrible mixdown then the final product on a high-end sound system is going to sound very bad. All the unwanted frequencies will be resonating because you didnt hear it on either your headphones or low-end (consumer level) speakers at home. I usually like to cut everything below 30hz. Usually that will get rid of the low hum which takes up alot of space in your mix. I like to picture my mix like a pie. Every section of the mix takes a piece of the pie, so you need to cookie cut the frequencies to make it fit as a whole. If there is any bleeding or spill in the frequencies then the mix will become muddy or some elements will be overpowered and become inaudible.
