Here is where I introduce myself:
My name is Christopher Coolsen and I am studying audio engineering with the Recording Connection in Philadelphia. My goal is to achieve a full-time career in the industry. While that does sound vague, it should reflect my interest and passion in several fields including live and studio engineering and production (with the soundtrack of our lives), overdubbing and voice-over projects, and audio-to-film production. I would ultimately like to find employment on the west coast, especially L.A. or Seattle.
It is true I am older than your typical student (which is why I'm leaving my age blank). I went to pre-internet/smartphone college (we didn't even have cable in the classrooms). I found that my degree did not translate into hands-on experience or advancement in a chosen discipline, as most college degrees, I find, only provide a minimum requirement for work. Now I am back in school, studying hands-on in a real recording studio. This is training I should have done the first time around, and would encourage students to pursue for continuing education. This has been so beneficial to me. I'm working towards a new career in a real-world setting I had only practiced as a hobbyist and sometimes-paid amateur in past years. If you look in my Audio section, you can hear some of my pre-Recording Connection projects I created for a variety of arenas and styles.
Please look for additional posts where I will talk a little more about myself, my experiences and learning with the Recording Connection, my goals and aspiration, and my love for music and sound.
