Dynamic,Ribbon and Condensor microphones are the three types of mics that are in every recording studio. A dynamic mic has a moving coil surrounded by a magnetic field. There mostly used to capture things like vocals and high frequency sounds especially used on stage cause they are quite sturdy. Ribbon mics inner workings form a magnetic gap with two permanent metal plates. These mics tend to be real sensitive and less durable. Because of this they have low sensitivity and are bi directional. Last but not least Condensor mics have a thin membrane close to the metal plate. Fun fact the British call them “ Capacitor Mics “. A Condensor will require external power but it can captures sounds a lot more accurately.
