Lesson 8 Posted on 2013-06-12 by George Kounnas

6/1/2013 1:00pm-7:00pm | 6/9/2013 8:00am-12:00pm

In these sessions we focused on the mixing console. We went over what all over the knobs and buttons did and when to use each one, and how to use the board depending on if you're using a mic line in or a line in. We also got a little more in depth with the patch bay; going over how to patch different things to different pieces of outboard gear.

When we were going over the console, we each took a channel and he started from the top and worked his way down the channel explaining each button and knob, and we followed along with him. Afterwards he had each of us go down a channel and recite back to him what everything did. We spoke of the internal preamps on the board and the phantom power and when to use it, the EQ and functions of each one, we touched a little on the aux knobs, then all the way down to the fader. I'm still a little fuzzy about the patch bay ins and outs so I cant wait to start working with that to become better with it.

We also spoke briefly about the Pro Tools 002 interface and the inputs on it and compared it to the Pro Tools HD interface which had twice as many inputs I believe.

I've been putting some of my focus into getting clients into the studio. I gave a little pitch to some friends, but still no bites. I think my next step is taking it to social media and marketing the studio there.
