The EDM artist metioned in the last post was present the night of my scheduled Mastering lesson. I was able to observe the use of some great custom plugins Joey had purchased for Protools, including a voice gate and an incredible EQ that was able to self-adjust for variations in frequencies throughout the length of the track to prevent masking, among other things. The artist assured me that my opinion would be valued, but during a break I told him that I thought they were handling it just fine, since he knew exactly what he wanted. Sometimes it's better to keep it shut and listen. Isn't this the very essence of recording?
