lesson 15 Posted on 2013-08-29 by Matthew Lutchman

really REALLY short meeting this week. lesson 15 was a review of the last 3 lessons, dealing with plug- ins and signal processing.  joey was prepared to go into detail and smooth out any questions i had, but i showed up to the lesson with the questions filled out "perfectly!" as he put it.  i really like that this lesson went back over the last 3 and put all the important points together.  this lesson is a good reference point if i am using a plugin and dont know or remember what one specific knob does.  the other meeting this week was another mixing lab and i chose to work on jazz again.  the group i mixed was a 3 piece (drums bass and keyboard) with a girl with an incredible voice on top.  i seriously had these songs stuck in my head for the next 2 or 3 days.  this was the first mix lab that i began to use plugins to make the tracks sound how i wanted them to sound.  its one thing to read about eq and compressors, but its quite another to actually use them and see how helpful they are to find your desired tone or levels.  i was initially pleased with my choice to persue the area of sound engineering but now, a few months into the program, i am without-a-doubt convinced that i made the right decision. this is what i want to do with my life and i couldnt be happier.
