I am learning so much so fast. I knew that the right mic was important but I didn't know there were actual names for certain miking positions. Miking a drum kit is probably the most time consuming and tedious thing I have done at the studio. We just had a raggae group come in and it mustve taken 2 hours to place the microphones in the right spots. Lots of tweaking and adjusting. Even when we are listening to them play, my mentor goes in and adjusts mics and it makes a difference that you wouldn't think. I also didn't think it was conventional to mic an actual guitar or bass amp, but turns out it actually works better. Like I said, the amount I have learned is insane. I can't imagine where I'll be in June of next year.
