Week 18-Recording at Kung Fu Bakery Posted on 2016-04-27 by Dan Beigel

Steve called me at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday to assist in tracking 6 songs for a super group of 19 year olds!

We got right to it in clearing the space and setting up drum mics and patching them up in Protools. When the drummer showed up, I had the mic's plugged into the wall and connected to the patch bay. While Steve was creating a Protools template and firing up the preamps/compressors/equipment, I was taping up and labeling the inputs for the headphone mixers. I showed the band how to operate the headphone mixers for controlling incoming signals.

After the band was setup, we repositioned the mics and double checked levels and singnals for everyone. These School of Rockers had their music locked down and were very easy to work with. They all played their parts nice and smooth and made it easy for overdubs. Steve told the guitarist to play his solo with his foot up on the amp, because he was being tentative and not playing as well as he could if he was in a "stadium" rocking out! The guitarist got into character and worked really well with Steve's direction.

They also bought us coffee and tacos!! Amazing 10 hours of recording!!!
