I feel like this chapter is where everything is starting to come into play. Before we were just learning what sound is, how it is traveling, how we hear it, how the devices are powered, etc. Now we're learing a little bit about how to mix, at least the first steps. What sample rates are and bit depth and when parts of your song/sound gets cut out and how today files are compressed. All of it is very interesting and also confusing at the same time. The more I read and watch videos, the better I understand the material. Once I get ProTools on my laptop, I'm sure everything will start coming full circle. I can take what I'm learning and put it to work. I had a session a few days ago with Prince and it went great as usual. Talked about Chapter 3, listened to songs that aren't mixed correctly vs mixed correctly, showed me how to set up and clean up a studio, rolling up mic cables and then watched some Chris Lord Alge videos. We're going to try and set up a time when I can come in and watch him during a session with another client so I can see what goes on during an paid session. Hopefully we can do that next week sometime. Until next time.
