Chapter 2 - Basic Electronics Posted on 2016-07-06 by Daniel Pantoja

This chapter was a breeze! Before coming to audio engineering I was on track to beccoming a civil engineer but didn't enjoy it much so I switched to a passion of mine, music. Luckily not all the things I learned in college were for nothing because I aced this chapter. The only thing I couldn't quite figure out was why an audio engineer would need to know about electricity and currents and stuff but my mentor Chris really helped me with it. He told me how it came in handy when making your own cables and even offered to show me how to make my own cables. He also explained how it worked inside amps and other on stage/studio electronics. Besides learning the chapter I attended a few recording and mixing sessions in the studio. We spent three ours at a time working but time seemed to go by so quickly that it didn't feel long at all. The singers/performers that came in were very talented and knew what they wanted to hear in their tracks and Chris gave them exactly that. I haven't gotten Pro Tools yet but I'm already picking up on so many shortcuts and tricks he uses to speed things along. The other students/interns also help me out a lot and make our sessions fun.
