This week I was able to learn all about the different microphones and their application for various instruments and sound sources. I learned about dynamic microphones, and how they are most commonly used on "harsher" instruments such as drums, bass, or electric guitar type things. As well as condensor microhpones, and how they are built in such a way to be most suited for softer instruments such as acoustic guitar and piano. I also was able to assist my mentor in setting up some new audio equipment for his studio, wiring everything in and running it through preamps and into Pro Tools and the speaker system.
