Equalization is also a term I have heard used frequently but never fully understood. But I get it now! Its "to boost or cut specific frequencies in a signal". I however had no idea there was different types of filters in EQ. For example; shelving, peak filters and pass filters. I was taught you have to be careful when remembering the functions of high and low pass filters. A high pass filter allows the high frequencies to pass through. It does not filter out the high frequencies. And vice versa with the low pass filter. I was able to sit at my mentor’s big mixing desk and equalize some drums today, which was incredible entertaining!
