I have been using compressors for quite some time now, so it was very interesting to be able to go deeper into the technology behind it. It was so nice to be able to finally learn what the difference between a compressor and a limiter is. I personally have never heard of an expander. It's a device that basically just makes loud noises and soft noises softer. Now that I have been introduced to that, it’s so interesting. Compression in itself is so helpful. I remember recording songs without using a compressor and it took hours and hours trying to make what I had, sound amazing. But there was so much clipping, plus raising and lowering volume. And when I started using a compressor, my life became so much easier.
