I have only finished the first chapter and I have already gained so much more knowledge than I could have imagined. I never realized just how sensitive our ears were to different sounds or how the masking of sounds will affect what it is our ears perceive. My mentor Mack Damon has already explained a bit about frequencies, and how to set up gear and equipment to get the right sound you want. I had the opportunity to sit down and observe him in action with other artists as they recorded and broke down each song they had. A group of guys in a band came to record with Mack and were switching guitars and discussing lyrics trying to figure out how they wanted to be heard. Overall I learned that songwriting and producing is time based and not every time you record something you will get it on the first take. Patience goes a long way and does affect how a song turns out in the end.
