The diffrence Between Recording for VoiceOvers and Recording music Posted on 2015-02-01 by Raymond Cole

The title suggests it all. Now you may not think that there are diffrences, but I be got differ. Sure you can go to a studio and stand in the big room with a microphone and say your piece, and then the engineer will cut, tweak it and produce it., I'm talking more about the conventional wisdom of the two when recording ut of studio.  If you read Vo blogs they all talk about putting A Vo record in a small space; i.e. a closet or a small sound treated study, the more confined the better some would say, as long as you can absorb the sound.  Music on the other hand, you want the space.  The bigger the better.  Outside would be perfect if you could control all the ambient noise that goes along with recording outside.  You maybe at this point wondering what I am rmabling about.  I'm taking about the acoustics.  The acoustics of a VO performance must be as dead as possible.  If we could record in a vaccum we would.  Of course sound travel, and of course breathing would be problematic.  On the opposite side, Music recording is sometimes, but not always enhanced or at least informed by the acoustics of a room.  anyway that to me is the diffrence between recording Vo and Music.  Vo, as small an imprint as possible, as opposed to music, you want big.  Just my two cents, I could just be a madman off my rocker.  who is to know.
