Lesson 13: Signal Processing dynamic based, Compressors - volume control Posted on 2013-05-27 by Isaiah Putman

This week I brought in a friend to record guitar. He played a sort of country version of The Beatles’ “Yesterday”, which Mr. Sinko and I later discovered to be a ripoff of the Chet Atkins cover. Recording went rather smoothly, only requiring two or three takes per layer of guitar. There was a minor issue in figuring out the tempo for a click track, which we wanted so I could add the Striker drum plug-in later on, but other than that it went really well. I found out later my friend was a huge fan of Mr. Sinko’s brother David Sinko and his work with the Punch Brothers, so it meant a lot to him to come to this particular studio, which was nice. My friend also plays in a band which I had asked to record at the end of the program, and who said they were very interested. So we discussed some logistical issues about how to make that happen as smoothly as possible. I spent the rest of my time working on the mix.
