This week we recorded some a track called “Goosebumps” by my friends Steven and Aaron. They perform the song with their group The Truth and The Trip but they were the only ones to come in to record. The first day we recorded drums and guitar. We had some major tuning issues with Steven’s 7-string guitar, so several aborted tracks were involved. We eventually got two good takes, but the end of the second take, which is the one we wanted to keep, had an obvious wrong notes, so we decided to splice in the end of the first take instead. Although they hadn’t planned on it, I got Aaron to come in again during my next session to record a bass part, and while he was already there I convinced him to also record the MIDI organ part he said they used on a hammond sometimes. He wasn’t the organ player so it wasn’t an excellent performance, but I assured him that thanks to MIDI technology as long as I got the bare bones of the what he wanted I could adjust it to sound professional.
