This week I started mixing “Goosebumps”. Monday was spent on just drums, which turned out to be even more difficult than I expected. There was a lot of extra noise on the tom tracks so I put a gate a gate on them which really helped clean things up. I enjoyed the sound I was getting from the AKG C-24 mid-side miking on the whole drum set, which reminded me of Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks”, but I had a really hard time getting the rest of the tracks to fit in with that sound, so I ultimately went with something a bit less edgy. Also didn’t get the snare to sound quite as bright as I wanted.
Thursday I spent fine-tuning the drum tracks and then did the guitars and bass. The bass had a buzzing sound that was very annoying, and we minimized it but wasn’t able to completely. The Guitars needed hardly any work, just some compression for coloring and to make the dynamics a little less extreme.
